Why can’t I hear or record any sound?
Purpose of this page: If you encounter any of the following situations, this page will help you quickly identify the cause and resolve it within 1–3 minutes:
-
No sound at all in the earphones
-
Speaking into the S1 but no monitoring audio
-
Phone / camera / computer is connected, but no audio is recorded
-
The recording is completed but the file is empty, and you’re not sure what went wrong
-
Only one earphone has sound / left and right channels are out of sync
1.Is the S1 powered on and has battery power?
-
Set the S1 side switch to Enhanced Dynamic mode [Middle] or Condenser mode [Right]
-
The [Left] position means the device is powered off
-
Check whether the indicator light is on
If the indicator light does not turn on:
-
The battery may be low
-
Please charge the S1 and the earphones for 1–2 minutes, then try powering on again
2.Is the microphone muted?
-
Check the indicator light status on the S1
-
Solid red = the microphone is muted
How to fix:
-
Press the mute button to unmute
3.Do the monitoring earphones have sound?
-
Wear the monitoring earphones
-
Speak into the S1 microphone
-
You should hear your voice in real time in the earphones
If there is no sound at all, or only one earphone has sound:
-
Check whether the earphones have battery power and are properly paired
-
If hardware monitoring is turned off, press and hold the “+” and “–” buttons on the S1 at the same time for 2 seconds to turn monitoring back on
4.Is there a “connection mode switch” happening?
Check whether you are doing both of the following at the same time:
-
The HISONG Link app is open
-
A USB-C cable is connected
In this situation, the system will:
-
Automatically switch to USB wired audio transmission
-
Use Bluetooth only for app control
-
Stop transmitting accompaniment or audio via Bluetooth
You may notice the following:
-
The accompaniment suddenly stops
-
Another phone can no longer find the S1 via Bluetooth
-
You may think Bluetooth is malfunctioning or the device is faulty
This is normal system behavior, not a device issue.
How to resolve:
-
If you still want to use Bluetooth accompaniment:
-
Close the HISONG Link app or unplug the USB-C cable
-
-
If you need stable recording or live streaming:
-
Keep the USB-C wired connection and complete the workflow using the wired audio path
-
▶ If everything above is correct, please continue troubleshooting based on your specific usage scenario.
If all four checks above have been confirmed and there is still no sound, proceed to the next section according to how you are using the device.
Scenario A|Can’t hear your own voice in the earphones (Monitoring issue)
Possible causes:
-
Monitoring volume is too low
-
Hardware monitoring is turned off
-
Earphones are not properly connected or paired
How to fix:
-
Increase the monitoring volume
-
Confirm the hardware monitoring status
Scenario B|No sound in recording / live stream (USB wired connection)
Applicable to:
-
Phone recording apps
-
DAW software
-
Live streaming apps
Possible causes:
-
The input device is not set to HISONG S1 USB
-
The app / DAW is still using the system’s built-in microphone
How to fix (critical):
-
Open the recording / DAW / live streaming app
-
Select HISONG S1 USB as the input device
-
Create an audio track and enable monitoring or recording
Scenario C|No sound from camera / speaker (RX Plus scenario)
Possible causes:
-
RX Plus is not successfully paired with the S1
-
The wrong input interface is being used
How to fix:
-
Confirm that the RX Plus indicator shows the real-time audio meter
-
Use the 3.5 mm OUT port on the RX Plus
-
Prefer connecting to a LINE IN input
Scenario D|No sound from Bluetooth accompaniment
Possible causes:
-
Bluetooth is not successfully connected
-
Bluetooth has been switched to a non-audio mode by the system
-
Bluetooth volume is not synchronized on Android devices
How to fix:
-
In your phone’s Bluetooth settings, confirm that HISONG S1 Bluetooth is connected
-
On Android devices, enable Bluetooth volume synchronization
-
Confirm that multitrack recording is not enabled
-
Confirm that Bluetooth Accompaniment is not turned off in the HISONG Link app
-
Confirm that a USB-C cable is not connected while the HISONG Link app is open
⚠ Note: If the HISONG Link app is open and the same phone is connected via USB-C, Bluetooth accompaniment will automatically be disabled and switched to wired accompaniment transmission.
