Android Phone Issues – Dedicated Section
(Connection / Latency / Cubasis Activation Explained)
Purpose of this page: This page helps you understand why these issues occur and how to use the device correctly on Android.
If you are an Android phone user and have encountered any of the following situations:
-
The S1 is connected, but no audio is recorded
-
Monitoring latency is very high, making it hard to sing or speak in sync
-
Cubasis LE cannot be activated or shows “device not detected”
👉 In most cases, this is not a device malfunction, but a result of default Android system behavior.
Issue 1|Device is connected, but the app is still using the phone’s built-in microphone
This is the most common issue on Android.
Why does this happen?
-
Android does not automatically switch the recording input when an external audio device is connected
-
The app must detect the USB audio device at launch or require manual input selection
How to fix:
-
Connect the S1 to your phone via USB-C / RX Mini / RX Plus
-
Wait 2–3 seconds
-
Close and reopen the recording or DAW app you are using
-
In the app, select HISONG S1 USB as the input device
Issue 2|Monitoring latency is very high, vocals are out of sync
Why does this happen?
-
Software monitoring must pass through multiple layers of system audio processing
-
Latency varies greatly depending on the phone brand, model, and Android version
How to fix:
-
Keep using the S1 hardware monitoring
-
Do not enable software monitoring
-
Turn off monitoring inside the DAW / app
⚠ Note: This is not caused by high latency on the S1, but by Android system limitations.
Issue 3|Cubasis LE cannot be activated
Why does this happen? The Cubasis LE activation bundled with the HISONG S1 applies to:
-
iOS version of Cubasis LE
-
Cubase LE on macOS / Windows
It does not currently include an activation license for the Android version of Cubasis LE.
Therefore, on Android devices:
-
Cubasis LE may be downloadable
-
But it may show “cannot be activated” or “no license detected”
-
This is a licensing scope limitation, not a device or S1 malfunction
⚠ Note: Cubasis activation messages are unrelated to the S1 hardware status and do not affect normal recording or usage of the S1 on Android.
