Information the App Accesses, Collects, Uses, or Shares

Google Play and Android privacy requirements may consider both whether data leaves your device and whether the App accesses sensitive permissions or local data. For that reason, this Policy describes information that is accessed or processed locally on your device, information transmitted off your device, and information shared through third-party SDKs, HISONG services, support tools, or actions that you initiate.

1. App, Device, and Identifier Information

The App may collect or process:

  • App package name, app version, build information, language, region, locale, and app settings;
  • Phone or tablet information, such as manufacturer, brand, model, product name, Android version, API level, security patch level, hardware name, and device capability information;
  • Firebase app instance identifiers and other app-level identifiers used for analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, and reliability;
  • App identifiers derived from Android ID, used for analytics, diagnostics, and app reliability.

We use this information to provide App functionality, understand device compatibility, diagnose issues, measure App usage, maintain security, and improve the App.

The App does not collect IMEI, IMSI, SIM serial number, phone number, Advertising ID, or other telecommunications identifiers.

2. App Activity and Feature Usage

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect App activity and feature usage information, which may include:

  • In-app screen views, navigation, and page interactions;
  • Taps and feature events, including recording, playback, editing, saving, sharing, deleting, firmware update, device pairing, and settings actions;
  • Audio and video setting changes, such as input source, mute status, volume, monitoring, EQ, compressor, reverb, noise reduction, limiter, dry/wet mode, camera lens, FPS, and resolution;
  • Where available, analytics properties related to connected HISONG devices, such as device serial number, device type, and firmware version.

We use this information for App functionality, analytics, product improvement, compatibility analysis, troubleshooting, and measuring whether features work as intended. We do not use this information for third-party targeted advertising.

3. Crash Reports and Diagnostics

The App uses Firebase Crashlytics, including native crash reporting, to collect crash reports and diagnostic information, such as:

  • Crash logs, stack traces, crash state, native crash information, and App state at the time of a crash;
  • App version, device model, Android version, operating system information, and related technical diagnostic information.

The App also creates local diagnostic logs, including:

  • App logcat files stored in the App's private file directory;
  • Firmware update logs stored in the App's private file directory;
  • Firmware update request and response information, device connection state, firmware version, device serial number, device model information, and error messages.

Logcat files are retained locally for up to approximately 2 days unless shared or deleted earlier. Firmware update logs may remain locally until the App clears them, you clear them, Android clears them, or you uninstall the App.

General local log files are not automatically uploaded. If you choose to share a log through the Android share sheet with HISONG support or another app, the selected recipient may receive that log file.

4. Bluetooth, Nearby Devices, and HISONG Device Information

To connect supported HISONG devices, the App scans for Bluetooth Low Energy and nearby devices and may process:

  • Names of nearby and connected HISONG devices;
  • Bluetooth device addresses or MAC addresses that are available to the App;
  • The locally saved name and address of the last connected HISONG device;
  • HISONG device serial number (SN), firmware version, device brand, product, model, mode, fingerprint, battery or power state, and connection state;
  • Audio device state, connection state, pairing state, and device control settings.

We use this information to discover, connect, control, pair, reset, and update HISONG devices; display device status in the App; improve compatibility; diagnose device-related issues; and provide support.

For firmware update checks and update confirmations, the App may send selected HISONG device information to HISONG update services, including device serial number, firmware name and version, device brand, product, model, mode, App country or locale, phone brand/model, and Android system version.

5. Location Permission and Bluetooth Scanning

On some Android versions, Android requires apps to obtain location-related permissions before Bluetooth Low Energy scanning or nearby device discovery can work. The App requests location permission and may check whether Location Services are enabled so that Bluetooth scanning and device connection can function properly.

The App uses location-related permission, when required by Android, for Bluetooth scanning, nearby device discovery, device connection, and related App functionality. The App does not use GPS to collect precise location coordinates, does not collect location history, does not access background location, and does not use location for advertising or advertising analytics targeting.

The App may process country, region, or locale information from device settings, App configuration, network/service logs, analytics services, or support interactions for language, firmware update, analytics, compatibility, and support purposes.

6. Microphone, USB Audio, Camera, Recordings, and Local Media

When you use recording, real-time tuning, monitoring, audio creation, video recording, playback, editing, export, or related features, the App may access and process:

  • Microphone audio;
  • USB audio input from supported HISONG or compatible audio devices;
  • Camera preview and video recording;
  • Local audio or music files that you choose to import through the Android file picker or media picker;
  • Audio recordings and video files created in the App;
  • Recording and media metadata, such as file name, file path in App storage, duration, file size, sample rate, bit depth, track information, audio effect settings, FPS, resolution, and input source switching markers.

Audio, video, and imported media are processed locally on your device for recording, playback, editing, mixing, waveform display, export, and saving. The App does not automatically upload your recordings, videos, imported music files, or exported files to HISONG servers.

You may choose to:

  • Save exported audio or video to your device media library or local storage, such as Music/HiSong or Movies/HiSong;
  • Share selected audio, video, exported files, screenshots, or log files with other apps through the Android share sheet;
  • Delete recordings where the App provides deletion controls.

When you save files outside the App or share files with another app, the destination app, storage location, or recipient processes the file according to its own terms and privacy policy.

7. Local Storage, Preferences, and Files

The App stores certain information locally on your device, including:

  • App preferences and feature switches;
  • The name and address of the last connected Bluetooth device;
  • Recording database entries and recording metadata;
  • Recorded audio/video files, temporary recording files, imported backing track files, and exported files;
  • Firmware download status and downloaded firmware files stored in App cache or App-specific storage;
  • Local diagnostic logs and firmware update logs.

This local information is used to provide App functionality and remains on your device until you delete it, the App clears it, Android clears it, or you uninstall the App.

8. Customer Support, LiveChat, Email, Discord, and Web Pages

The App provides support options, including email, LiveChat, Discord, FAQ pages, manuals, firmware update guides, privacy policy pages, terms pages, and other web pages.

If you contact us, we may receive information you provide, such as your email address, name, message content, device information, screenshots, log files, order information, or other attachments that you choose to send.

The App uses LiveChat through an embedded WebView or the LiveChat SDK. When you open LiveChat, LiveChat/Text may process chat messages, pre-chat information, contact details you provide, session information, device/browser information, cookies or similar web storage, and technical information needed to provide chat support. LiveChat's own terms and privacy policy apply to its processing activities.

When the App opens HISONG web pages, Discord, or other third-party pages, those websites or services may process information according to their own privacy policies.

Android Permissions and Sensitive Access

Depending on your Android version and the features you use, the App may request or declare:

  • Bluetooth and Nearby Devices: used to scan for, connect to, pair with, and communicate with HISONG devices;
  • Location: required by Android on some devices and system versions for Bluetooth Low Energy scanning or nearby device discovery; not used to collect GPS coordinates;
  • Microphone and foreground microphone service: used to record and process audio and, when needed, keep recording reliably running;
  • Camera: used for preview and video recording when you use video recording features;
  • USB host and USB permission: used to detect and communicate with supported USB audio devices;
  • Notifications: used to display foreground service, recording, firmware update, or App status notifications;
  • Internet and network state: used for Firebase, LiveChat, HISONG web pages, and HISONG firmware update services;
